Friday Evening: Yoga Sutras Talk
We begin with the mind. David will unpack a powerful passage from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali describing five essential qualities that support progress in practice: faith, energy, memory, meditation, and wisdom. Through clear explanation and practical examples, you’ll explore how these inner qualities develop through steady practice and how they show up both on and off the mat. Reserve a spot for Friday PM.
Saturday Morning: Vinyasa and the Art of Transition
Vinyasa is more than movement between poses — it is the rhythmic engine of the Ashtanga method. In this session, David will explore how skillful transitions build confidence, breath power, and meditative focus. You’ll learn how intelligent movement between postures prepares you to arrive in each pose with steadiness, clarity, and presence. Reserve a spot for Saturday AM.
Saturday Afternoon: Strength of an Elephant - Arm Balances and Inversions
No Second Series experience required — all levels welcome.
This workshop explores how strength develops in Ashtanga through patience, breath, and calm intelligence. Working step by step with progressions and options, we will use arm balances and inversions as a laboratory for building physical strength, stamina, and mental steadiness. Postures may include Bakasana, Pincha Mayurasana, Mayurasana, and variations of Sirsasana. Reserve a spot for Saturday PM.
Sunday Morning: Led Half Primary Series + Ashtanga Pranayama
Bring the weekend’s lessons into a traditional counted practice. David will lead a Half Primary Series emphasizing steady rhythm, clear breath, and intelligent transitions. Following the asana practice, we will explore an Ashtanga pranayama sequence designed to refine the breath, calm the nervous system, and deepen concentration. Reserve a spot for Sunday AM.
Sunday Afternoon: Asana Kitchen - Ask David Anything
Got a pose that’s been haunting you? A transition you can’t quite crack?
This open session is a chance to bring your questions directly to David. Together we’ll explore poses, technique, philosophy, and practice challenges in a relaxed, interactive setting. Come curious — and leave with new insight. Reserve a spot for Sunday PM.
About David Garrigues
David Garrigues is one of the few teachers in the United States certified to teach Ashtanga Yoga by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. He first traveled to Mysore in 1993 and continued studying there for over 16 years. His teaching is rooted in the principle that anyone can take practice.
