Privacy policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Chi Yoga Shack (“we,” “us,” “our”), a yoga studio at 1942 N. Leavitt St., Chicago, IL 60647. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information we collect through chiyogashack.com and our services, how we use it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond what section 3 describes.

2. Information we collect

2.1. Information you give us

  • Booking and account details: when you book a class, buy a pass or membership, or create an account, you do it on Momence, our booking platform. Momence collects your name, email, phone number, class history and preferences on our behalf.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by Momence and its payment processors. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Forms on this website: when you ask about a private group event or propose a workshop, we receive what you type (such as your name, email, phone number, preferred dates and message).
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, phone, the chat window on this site, or social media.

2.2. Information collected automatically

  • Device and connection details, such as browser type, device type, operating system and IP address.
  • How you use the site, such as the pages you visit, the buttons you tap and the website or ad that brought you here.
  • Technical error reports when something on the site breaks.

2.3. The voice guide

On our homepage you can choose to talk with an AI voice guide that suggests a class. It only listens after you tap “Tap to chat” and allow your microphone, and it stops when you end the conversation, leave the page, or after five minutes. Your voice is streamed directly from your browser to OpenAI, which turns it into text and replies. We do not record, store or receive your audio or the conversation. Under its API terms, OpenAI does not use this data to train its models and may keep it for a limited time to prevent abuse. The voice guide does not identify you by your voice. If you prefer not to use it, the tap-through guide next to it works the same way without a microphone.

3. Services that help us run the site

These companies process information for us, under their own privacy policies:

  • Momence: class schedule, booking, payments, member accounts, the booking calendars on our pages and the chat window.
  • Vercel: hosts this website. Its Web Analytics and Speed Insights count visits and measure page speed without cookies.
  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager: show us how visitors find and use the site, and which pages lead to bookings. These use cookies.
  • Meta Pixel: tells Meta when someone who saw our ads on Facebook or Instagram visits the site or heads to booking, so we can measure and improve those ads. This uses cookies.
  • OpenAI: powers the optional voice guide described above.
  • Resend: delivers the forms on this site to our inbox by email.
  • Sentry: receives technical error reports (the page, browser and what went wrong) so we can fix problems.
  • Google Maps: shows the map on our contact page. Google may set cookies when the map loads.

We may also share information with legal authorities when the law requires it or to protect our rights, our students or the studio.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, the Meta Pixel, Momence and Google Maps may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. The site itself only keeps a few small notes in your browser for the length of your visit: the ad or link that brought you (so a booking can be credited to it), and whether you have already seen the opening breath on our Discovery page. They are cleared when you close the tab.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out: Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and the Meta Pixel are not loaded, and only Vercel’s cookie-free visit counts remain.

5. How we use your information

  • To run your classes, passes, memberships, private sessions and events.
  • To answer your questions and the requests you send through our forms.
  • To tell you about classes, workshops and offers, if you have agreed to hear from us.
  • To understand which pages and ads help people find the studio, and to improve the website.
  • To keep the site secure and working, including limiting spam and abuse of our forms and voice guide.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

6. How long we keep it

We keep booking and payment records for as long as you are a student and as long as tax and accounting rules require. Form messages stay in our email for as long as they are useful to answer you. To limit spam, the site counts requests by IP address for up to a day; those counts are then deleted. Analytics and error reports are kept for the periods set by the services above.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the “unsubscribe” link in any email.
  • Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your information, unless we need to keep it by law.
  • Opt out of analytics and advertising tracking with Global Privacy Control or your browser’s cookie settings.

To make a request, email us at info@chiyogashack.com or call (312) 866-2606. We will answer within 30 days. You can update most of your booking details yourself in your Momence account.

8. Children

This website is meant for adults. Family Yoga is booked by a parent or guardian, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data security

The site is served only over an encrypted connection, payment details stay with Momence and its payment processors, and we limit who at the studio can see your information. No online system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password for your Momence account.

10. Links to other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as Momence for booking and our social media pages. Their own privacy policies apply there.

11. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
